About This Destination
Senaru is a village in North Lombok at the foot of Mount Rinjani, known as the northern gateway for trekking. More than just a starting point, Senaru offers a unique combination of natural beauty, culture, and history that can be enjoyed without summiting the mountain. Two spectacular waterfalls — Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep — are the area's main draws. Tiu Kelep in particular is a favorite with its natural pool where you can swim under the waterfall's cascade. The trek to both falls passes through lush tropical forest alive with birdsong and wild monkeys. Senaru Traditional Village itself holds a long history as a spiritual center for the Sasak people. Traditional houses, an ancient mosque, and a valley panorama stretching to the sea make Senaru a destination rich in stories and scenery.

April to October. Waterfalls are fuller after rain, but trekking trails are more slippery.
How to Get There
From Mataram/Senggigi drive about 2.5–3 hours to Senaru. Park at the tourism area, then continue on foot to the waterfalls.
